FORT WORTH — A Fort Worth man found not guilty in 2004 of sexually assaulting a young girl has now been charged with molesting a 16-year-old boy.
Jimmy Ray Davis, 44, was charged Monday with sexual assault of a child under 17, Tarrant County court records show.
Davis, a tattoo artist, was arrested Friday in the East Texas town of Pittsburg. He remained in the Camp County Jail on Tuesday morning with bail set at $35,000, according to jail officials.
Fort Worth police had begun investigating Davis on June 18 after a parent of the boy reported that the child had told of sexual abuse.
Coincidentally, the on-duty detective assigned to investigate the boy’s case, S.L. Kelly, had also handled the investigation into an approximately 7-year-old girl’s claims in 2003 that Davis had sexually assaulted her. Davis went to trial but was acquitted by a Tarrant County jury in October 2004, court records show.
"A lot of times the result isn’t what you think it should be, but you can’t second-guess the court," Kelly said. "Obviously, we just didn’t prove up the case well enough."
In the latest case, Kelly said, the teen is a family friend of Davis’. The teen says Davis assaulted him on several occasions at Davis’ home, Kelly said.
Police searched Davis’ property — his house, four sheds, a business trailer and two recreational vehicles — in the 2800 block of Northwest 23rd Street on June 24 and "seized several things that corroborate the victim’s allegations," Kelly said.
Officers also seized a large amount of pornography in addition to videos, computers and other electronics that will be analyzed for more evidence, she said.
"We suspect there could be additional victims," Kelly said.
