Dallas Car Accident Involves 5 Vehicles

A five-vehicle accident that sent a truck crashing into a concrete median on the Dallas North Tollway closed lanes and backed up traffic for miles in both directions this morning.

The accident was reported about 7 a.m. near Trinity Mills Road in Dallas after a yellow Ford Mustang clipped the front of a truck hauling a generator on a trailer, said Sgt. Robert Bernard of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The collision forced the truck across four lanes of traffic before it struck the concrete barrier and pushed a section of the wall into the southbound lanes.

A pickup truck and a Volkwagen Jetta traveling south crashed as they tried to avoid the concrete barrier. The pickup flipped over and the Jetta driver was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Bernard said.

A fifth vehicle, a sport utility vehicle traveling north, became lodged underneath the trailer in the northbound lanes.

The accident caused traffic to be backed up for miles this morning in both directions. Crews made repairs to the concrete barrier and all lanes had reopened by late morning.
