A woman died and two other people were critically injured in a car crash late Tuesday night in northwest Harris County.

Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators said the wreck happened in the 12400 block of Tanner about 11:15 p.m.

A woman driving a 2008 Ford Focus westbound on Tanner lost control of her car, slid sideways for nearly 200 feet and crossed into oncoming traffic.

A 2003 Hyundai SGX, traveling eastbound, slammed into the passenger side of the Ford Focus.

The Ford Focus driver, who has not been identified, was taken by ambulance to North Cypress Hospital, where she later died.

The driver and passenger in the Hyundai were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
