Police Office Hurt in Serious Car Accident

Houston, Texas (Harris County) Car Wreck with Injury -- Report by the Houston Chronicle.

Senior officer Lloyd Morrison, 51, was investigating a single-car accident around 3:30 a.m. when a Honda Accord struck his patrol car in the right lane.

That was not the only cause of the accident that caused serious personal injuries.

After the officer got out of his vehicle following the collision, a Ford Escort also hit the patrol car, pinning him between the patrol car and a fire truck.

Morrison, an 18-year HPD veteran, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with two broken legs and extensive injuries to his right arm, said HPD spokesman John Cannon.

Two drivers involved at the scene were treated at local hospitals.

"Both drivers who struck his vehicle appear to be under the influence," Cannon said.

Charges are likely for all three drivers, Cannon said.

The accident closed I-45 for more than five hours.

Car wrecks such as this often call for quick involvement by lawyers to investigate the accident and injuries before evidence is gone.
