Burleson Car Wreck Kills Woman

Car Wreck Tarrant County Johnson County

A Burleson woman died early Monday evening in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer about five miles south of Cleburne, a highway patrol trooper said.

Megan Porter, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on Farm Road 1434 said Trooper Dub Gillum, a spokesman for Texas Department of Public Safety.

Gillum, who also investigated the wreck, said troopers were called at 7:20 p.m. to the head-on collision.

Porter, driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring, was northbound on the farm road when she entered a curve "at an unsafe speed," Gillum said.

The car skidded left into the northbound lane where it collided with a 2000 International tractor-trailer rig driven by Juan Castaneda of Cleburne, Gillum said.

The rig came to rest in a ditch and the car was found in the roadway facing south, Gillum said. Porter did wear a seatbelt, he added.

Gillum also noted that he did not expect any charges would be filed.
