Toddler Drowns in Spring, Texas Pool

Swimming Pool Accident Lawyer

A 2-year-old boy died after falling into a backyard pool in the Spring area early Wednesday afternoon.

The child’s mother found her son floating in the pool at their home at the 3400 Block of Marywood at about 12:30 p.m., a Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.

She tried to do CPR and an ambulance took her son to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officials are treating the drowning as an accident, the spokesman said.

This is the 16th child drowning in the Houston metro area and the 48th statewide this year, according to Child Protective Services.

Thirteen drownings have happened in Harris County, all of them in backyard pools, said agency spokeswoman Estella Olguin.

"You have to designate a child watcher to keep track of children," Olguin said. "It’s easy for a child to quickly slip under the water."
