Teacher Faces Sexual Assault Charges

From the Star-Telegram:

GRAPEVINE -- A daycare teacher surrendered to police Wednesday after an arrest warrant was issued for him on suspicion that he fondled one of his young students, police said Thursday.

Police and CPS officials plan to interview other parents and children at the Primrose School of Hall Johnson, 2300 Hall Johnson Road.

Authorities identified the teacher as Vincent Alexander Woods, 32, of Euless. He was free Thursday morning after posting $10,000 bail.

Woods, who is married, could not be reached Thursday.

Woods is expected to be charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact, Grapevine police Sgt. Kim Smith said Thursday.

If convicted, Woods faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

“We’ve had one child make an outcry,” Smith said.

The unidentified 3-year-old girl made the outcry to her parents on May 28, police said.

“Her parents told investigators that their daughter had not made statements like that before,” Smith said.

After the girl talked to a forensic investigator, police interviewed Woods, Smith said.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit released on Thursday, the girl told the investigator that Woods put his hands down her pants on several occasions during nap time.

The affidavit stated that Woods told police in an interview that it happened one time, about three to four weeks ago during nap time.

Woods has been suspended from the school and had been one of the girl’s teachers, authorities said.

School officials released a statement about the incident, saying, “As our highest priority is always the health, safety and well-being of the children at our school, we take this matter very seriously and are cooperating fully with local officials in their investigation.”
