A woman died this afternoon in Pearland when she crashed into an oncoming vehicle, sending the other driver to the hospital, officials said.
The woman, 59, was in the 4500 block of northbound Main Street about 4:20 p.m. when her Pontiac sedan suddenly veered into oncoming traffic, Pearland police said.
The woman was killed when her Pontiac struck a Chevrolet pickup truck head-on, police said.

The driver of the pickup was taken to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Police said the woman appeared to have been speeding but don’t know why her car went into the southbound lanes.
Pearland officers have blocked north and southbound traffic on Main Street while they continue their investigation into the fatal crash.
